Crimes against persons always take precedence over other crimes. A high level of priority is given to preventing and punishing offenses committed against persons. Homicide is one of the most serious crimes against persons.
In order of importance, I will describe the following crimes against persons:

A homicide is a generalized term to refer to the killing of a human being. Murder is a specific kind of homicide. It refers to the killing of another human being with premeditation or during the commission of a felony. Voluntary manslaughter is another form of homicide. It refers to the killing of another human being resulting from sudden and violent passion as a result of a serious provocation. There are also two kinds of involuntary manslaughter. One is the killing caused by the commission of an act not considered a felony, and the other is a killing resulting from the commission of a lawful act in an unlawful manner that is likely to cause a death. The central theme of all homicides is the death of a human being.
A robbery occurs when a person intends to steal or take property by the use of force, intimidation, or threat of force, or by sudden snatching. An armed robbery occurs when the perpetrator uses an offensive weapon such as a gun or knife or any device resembling a weapon. O.J. Simpson is back in the news again and is alleged to have committed an armed robbery in a Las Vegas hotel room while attempting to retrieve his personal belongings.
There are two kinds of assault. One is simple assault. Simple assault refers to the intentional violent injury toward another person. The second is aggravated assault which describes simple assault with the use of a dangerous or deadly weapon. For instance, if you are walking down the street and some teenager with too much time on his hands comes out from behind a bush and zaps you with a stun gun or sprays you with pepper spray just for his own amusement, he can get in trouble for aggravated assault.
Sex offenses include rape, sexual assault, sexual battery, and aggravated sexual battery. Depending on the jurisdiction, rape and sexual assault are one in the same. Sexual battery refers to deliberate physical contact with another person’s private parts without that person’s permission. Aggravated sexual battery is the forceful penetration of another person’s sexual organs or **** without their permission.
Child molestation happens when an immoral or indecent event is committed against, with, or in the presence of a child under 16 years old with the intention of arousing or satisfying the sexual desires of either child or adult. Aggravated child molestation refers to molestation that involves sodomy or physically injuring the child.
The profile of a serial offender is Caucasian, male, smart, good looking, and personable. Even after such convicts are put away for life, many times they receive love letters or marriage proposals from women who feel they are in love with the convict. Scott Peterson is a good example of a serial offender who constantly receives these kinds of letters.
The commission of serial crimes range from crimes against property to murder or any combination of these.
