My article today deals with products to defend yourself and loved one’s. Its been amazing to me that we have to continue monitoring state laws for changes. Gun laws are the thing that our country is focused on so we have not noticed that passive weapons are being taken away too. There are laws in place that restrict pepper spray. Who are we kidding with these laws? Does anyone really think that if a criminal wants to use pepper spray on you a law is going to make a difference?

I understand this is one of the biggest arguments for anyone that wants to keep their weapons but it never made as much sense as now. The idea behind the law is that criminals are using pepper spray and stun guns to subdue their victims. I don’t know about you but I would much rather be shocked then stabbed or shot. Also if we can defend ourselves without the emotional effects of killing someone wouldn’t that make more sense.

The state of Michigan as an example says that pepper spray can only be a 2% solution and the sprayer no larger then 35 grams. When someone is coming after me I’m not going to worry about how bad it will hurt when I spray a full solution of spray in his eyes. I just want him to stop what he is doing and do it now!

I know most of us have seen videos of criminals that are full of an illegal drug and nothing seems to slow them down. So we are suppose to use a weaker spray on them so it won’t hurt so much? I want that person on the ground screaming in pain because that was what they were about to do to me. A good OC pepper spray with a rating of 2.5 million scoville heat units will stop anyone. Habanera peppers are rated around 300,000 so you can imagine what an attacker would feel and its effects are immediate.

Another good self defense weapon is the stun gun and there are at least nine states so far that have made them illegal for use or very restricted as to who can have them. I have lived in a couple of these states and I don’t remember ever seeing this come across any ballot. Regardless of what people may think crime rates have climbed every year. Assaults, rape, and armed robbery top the list but we are supposed to give up our personal protection weapons. I hope everyone reading this takes the time to look into the laws in your state and work to turn the tide against these trends. But please take the time to contact the politicians in your area and tell them your concerns. We should as American citizens at least have the right to defend ourselves.

Is it true that the stopping power of stun gun has everything to do with the voltage? In most cases Yes! I will explain.

When looking to purchase a stun gun. Why doesn’t everyone just go out and buy the most powerful? Most people don’t really know why they should pick the most powerful one they can afford. We will go over why.

A Stun guns voltage has increased dramatically in recent years and for good reason. For one technology and two, it is needed. Yes that’s correct it is needed. Simply because it will make a difference in the event of a self defense situation.

I am not suggesting that you should go throw out your 200,000 volt stun gun but, you should be aware of some differences. If you are ever assaulted then you will need to use your stun gun on this assailant for 4-5 seconds. Yes ! It is true. You need to make sure that you can get away! 4-5 seconds can seem like forever and unfortunately can mean life or death. This situation holds true for stun guns that are in the power range of 100,000 – 500,000 volts.

Stun guns manufactured in the range of 750K – 1.2 Million volts will cut that time needed in half. Just about 2 seconds is needed to subdue even the biggest of attackers. It is basically like getting hit with a baseball bat and god forbid if you ever have to experience that first hand. Using 2 seconds time is still along time in an attack you also need to consider if your going to apply this guns through clothing.

Now for the big boy stun guns. 1.5 millions – 2.6 million volts is going to stop your assailant. Rest assured that there is no need for another stun gun and even no need for a more powerful one. They can stop making them right here. Applying this to an assailant will put him or her down in a second or less. And that’s what you need to get away. It also reduces your chances of getting injured or worse by up to 75%-85%. You do not need to consider much with a stun gun powered at 2.5 million or more volts in a time of an attack. Having a 2.5 million volts or more stun gun available for your protection is an absolute necessity in my opinion and I’m sure my peers in the industry will agree.

These facts are things you should take into consideration when you purchase a stun gun. Of course your budget is something to consider however, life is priceless.

The true answer to the question on which is better lies in the reason why you need the device.  Let me explain what I am talking about.  First, tasers allow you to maintain a safe distance from an assailant.  If you are aware that the assailant is approaching you and usually before they get to you.  Stun Guns have to be pressed against an assailant, so they are ideal for close protection but offer no true value from a distance.

It is our experience that tasers are by far the best device if you are a security officer and/or in the law enforcement field.  Why?  Because you have backup nearby that can assist you in-case the assailant gets too close to safely use your taser.  Plus a security employee does “security” for a living and is more likely expecting a threat at any time so they are usually always ready for a situation.  A person must pass a background investigation prior to receiving approval to carry a taser.

It is also our experience that stun guns are the best device for common civilians, because usually you don’t know that you are going to be threatened until the THUG is right up on you.  Very important though, we only recommend the stun guns that carry a safety pin aka deactivation pin.  This feature doesn’t allow the stun gun to work, when the assailant is able to grab it out of your hand, if you properly use the pin around your hand or wrist.  Tasers don’t offer this feature.  We also recommend a very high power stun gun such as the CHEETAH 2.5 million volts, the sound alone sometimes can cause an assailant to rethink whether they want to approach you.  No permit or license is required to carry a stun gun in almost all areas of the country.  See our website and your local law enforcement for any restrictions.
