Motion Detectors — They Protect the Outside of Your House Too (part 2)

September 5th, 2009 admin No comments
Motion Detectors are the first line of defense to notify you when someone is near or in your house without permission.

You may know that Motion Detectors can protect the inside of your house. But did you realize that Motion Detectors will also guard your outside structures that are not attached to your house.

Like what? Well, how about your shed, outside workshop, swimming pool or garden. And many of us own expensive boats, cars, bikes, tractors, etc. that are outside in our yard, unguarded!

There is one type of Motion Detector that comes with a transmitter and a receiver which is perfect for protecting things outside the house. This quiet Motion Detector called a Driveway Patrol Alarm will not alert the bad guy that he’s been detected. Instead it sends a signal (an 80 dB pleasant chime) directly to the receiver that has been placed anywhere in your house.

You set the transmitter near the structure to be guarded (boat, shed, garden, etc) and set the receiver anywhere you want in your house, e.g. in the bedrooom at night, in the kitchen during the day — remember it’s portable. The transmission distance is up to 400 feet in most of these Motion Detectors.

When you hear the chime you can look out your window to see who’s been stealing your tools or ruining your garden — now you can decide to confront him or call the police to catch him in the act.

This type of Motion Detector is also great to let you know when your teenagers arrive home so you can be standing there waiting when he goes into his bedroom.

And don’t forget your swimming pool. When kids are in the pool you should always have adult supervision for safety. But what about when your pool is ‘closed’ and nobody should be inside the fence or in the water? A Swimming Pool Motion Detector Alarm, when triggered, will sound a loud alarm at the pool site as well as a separate alarm in your house to let you know somebody’s in your pool.

Please remember that Motion Detectors are made so that you don’t have to confront the intruder. You never know his state of mind — he could be scared more than you and will run away as soon as he hears something. Or, he could be more hardened and want to do bodily harm to you and the inhabitants of the house. Or he could even be hopped up on speed and be out of his mind.

One other thing about bad guys — he is probably younger and desperate and stronger than you, even if you were the toughest kid in the 7th grade. Call the cops and let them do their job — they’re better trained.

But, if you must confront the invader at least be prepared and have Pepper Spray or even a Stun Gun or Stun Baton with you to that you will have the edge over the attacker.

We all want and deserve a peaceful time at home (we certainly work hard enough for it during the week). Don’t forget it’s your choice to have Motion Detectors inside and outside of your home and property to keep the bad guy away so you won’t become a crime statistic.

Don’t Be the Next Victim!

Tasers: A Force That Travels

August 25th, 2009 admin No comments
Tasers have gained much attention in the media as of late, but remain an effective tool for self-defense. They are fast, effective and offer a safer alternative for the persons carrying them over more aggressive methods.

Tasers have gained much popularity for several reasons. Not only are they a non-lethal methods of incapacitating an attacker, they can be fired, just as a gun and hit a target often as far away as twenty feet. Tasers have achieved a notoriety of their own, even though they are similar to the standard stun gun.

Tasers operate on standard batteries easily purchased at any retailer. They are designed to be around the same size as a stun gun and you can use them at a distance as opposed to direct contact.

There are two electrodes at the front of the taser that shoot out once the trigger is pulled. These electrodes have small barbs on the end that will latch onto an attackers clothing and deliver the jolt.

Tasers are commonly used today by police personnel and offer a non-lethal method of calming an escalating situation that might endanger others. The overall design of a taser gun has evolved through the years. Many are now equipped with digital or identification means so any attacker will be identifiable at a later time.

Some tasers are designed to track the time and usage. Some designs give authorities information on where the gun was fired. There are even stun guns that feature dual electrodes. If you miss the first shot, they function just as a regular stun gun.

One of the disadvantages of a taser is they can only be fired once. Tasers are made with a compressed gas cartridge. This is what forces the electrodes out when the trigger is pushed. After a firing, the electrodes will need to be rewound and a new cartridge inserted.

A taser have an effect similar to the stun gun. A jolt of electricity is sent into an attackers body and, as a result, disables them from attacking you. The energy sent from a taster attacks the nervous system. The impact is not reported to be painful, but it does disable.

As with any self-defense mechanism, you should always carefully examine any documentation and retain it for later reference. Proper storage and use should also be a concern. Never store a taser or any other defense item within the reach of children, pets, or out in the open where someone else may take it.

The best places to store your taser will be invisible to all and convenient for you to access. Tasers have voltage rates similar to that of stun guns and should be handled as carefully as you would a typical stun gun.

You should also check to see if education is available in your area for the proper care and maintenance of your product. Many stores specializing in self-defense products will employ individuals who are knowledgeable and trained in the specifications and requirements for operating these items.

The New C2 Taser

August 3rd, 2009 admin No comments
There have been several articles written about the benefits of tasers in protecting people’s personal safety. How much do you know about tasers? Have you considered whether this versatile item is the right self defense tool for you? This article will help educate you on the important facts of taser use and help you to decide if a taser can help keep you safe.

What is a Taser?

A taser is an effective self defense tool that has a long history of protecting individual citizens and law enforcement personnel. The word “taser” is actually an acronym that has been adopted to replace the tools actual name – the “Thomas A. Swift Electric Rifle”.

How do Tasers Work?

Tasers are a hands off alternative to brute force and do not require direct contact between the potential victim and their attacker. The effect of the taser can be deployed from several feet away, sending small, non-invasive electrodes at the attacker. These electrodes then deliver a pulsating electric current, leaving the attacker unable to commit any further acts of violence.

What are the biggest Advantages that Tasers offer?

Tasers offer several significant advantages which contribute to this item’s popularity. First, because tasers send electrodes over a distance of several feet, they allow the potential victim to stop their attacker long before any physical contact is made. This increases the chances for an escape and reduces the likely-hood that the would-be victim will suffer any harm.

Also, tasers are an easy to use self defense tool that requires no excessive strength or skill. This means that tasers allow women, the elderly, and anyone else not trained in hand to hand combat to successful protect themselves in the face of an attack.

Finally, tasers are one of the safest self defense tools for everyone involved. Not only do they provide superior defense for the would-be victim, they also function as a restraining device that requires no brute force. This means that tasers are also safe for the attacker and any innocent bystanders.

The C2 Taser

One of the most common questions asked by those interested in purchasing a taser, is “which product is the best?” Of course, your personal choice will depend on your specific needs, but a good item to start with is the Taser C2.

The Taser C2 is a premier taser product designed specifically for personal protection. Using a system of compressed nitrogen, the Taser C2 sends two small probes over an outstanding distance of 15 feet. These probes are connected to the handheld unit by insulated and reinforced wiring that not only withstands wear and tear, but also protects the user and bystanders from electrical shock.

Further contributing to the C2 Taser’s amazing reputation is the unit’s ability to penetrate through up to 2 inches of clothing. This means that no matter what clothing the attacker is wearing, even a heavy winter coat will not stop the C2 Taser from helping you defend yourself.
