Defence equipment for police and public

September 9th, 2009 admin No comments

People all over the world are increasingly getting concerned about risks of daily living. There is increasing awareness about personal safety and safety of family. One of the many risks, apart from terrorist threats, people are more concerned about is the wide spread of criminal acts. There is not a single day which passes without people falling victim to criminal acts. Rape, murder and theft are commonplace, forcing people to think of self defence since law enforcing police force proves inadequate to control these crimes.

Self defence was the basic need of mankind in the past and now it has become more essential in the prevailing scenario. Different generations have been developing martial arts and self defence weapons for protection from animals, criminals and antisocial elements. The need for protection has led to invention of less-lethal but quite effective self defence products and personal safety devices, such as taser guns, stun guns, police batons, pepper spray and rubber ammunition. The advantage in using these personal safety devices is they don’t kill but disable attacker long enough and provide time to victim for safety.

A taser gun is an excellent self-defence weapon that works by firing two electrodes towards attacker using compressed nitrogen. These electrodes are sharp and barbed and pierce easily in clothing and skin, but cannot be removed easily once implanted. Taser gun sends electric charge into the target with the help of fine conductive wires. The target gets disabled due to powerful electric charge that overloads nerves and disables voluntary muscle control. However taser guns don’t cause permanent damage to nerves. Taser guns that form part of police training equipment have longer range and are equally effective like civilian taser guns.

Although taser guns are quite effective, stun guns are more popular weapon for self-defence. A stun gun, designed for close range can be held in hand. Stun guns are electroshock self defence product that has firing range shorter than taser guns, but with distinct provision of firing for more than once.

Stun guns work on rechargeable batteries and are bar-shaped like electric razors, with two exposed electrodes at one end. Activated electrodes are made to touch target’s body causing pain due to severe involuntary contraction of muscles on account of electric current. This helps to startle and discourage opponent from further assault. Fearsome crackling sound produced by stun guns serves as deterrent. This self defence safety product is commonly used by women to thwart any robbery or rape attempt.

Taser guns and stun guns can be easily carried in a jacket pocket or a small bag and are very effective ready to use personal safety devices.

Police batons are one of several self-defence products used by police force. Police batons are either collapsible or expandable. The first police baton was called ‘billy club’ and its inclusion as police training equipment led to evolution of variety of police batons. The most popular police baton is the telescopic steel baton. It has replaced all types of other police batons in the police force and law enforcement agencies.

Expandable batons have a solid tip attached to inner-most shaft’s outer end which lends more power and forceful strike with the baton.

A collapsible police baton is normally carried in extended position by the police force. By just extending a baton, police can intimidate many and deescalate violent situations. These batons are equally useful as civilian self defence equipment.

Things To Consider When Purchasing A Stun Gun

FamilyDefense asked:

n is a great way to have a line of defense with you. They are designed to cause temporary damage, allowing you time to get to safety if you need. Here are a few things to keep in mind about stun guns.

What Is A Stun Gun?

A stun gun is a small battery operated device that generates a high voltage electrical charge. They are designed to temporary incapacitate an attacker without causing any long term damage. Our body relies on electrical impulses for each action we take, a stun gun is designed to ‘interrupt’ that function. The attacker who has been stunned will be unable to move or do anything for a few minutes. This will give you valuable time to get out of harms way and call for help.

Is A Stun Gun Easy To Use?

Yes. Stun guns don’t require any specialized training to use. They generally have an on/off switch and a safety. Once the gun is turned on and the safety is disengaged, you can shock your attacker with ease. You don’t have to worry about being stunned yourself even if you touch your attacker after the gun has been used. Since stun guns are designed to deliver a minimal amount of electrical current, they do not generally cause permanent damage when used correctly.

Are Stun Guns Easy To Carry?

Yes. You can purchase stun guns that are small enough to fit inside a purse or bag. If you opt for a larger model you can purchase holsters that clip directly on your belt to carry them easily. Since most of them have both an on/off switch and a safety you don’t need to worry about engaging it when it’s holstered or in your bag.

Are Stun Guns Legal To Carry?

Yes and no. You need to check with the area you live in. Some states have restrictions, and some cities have their own ordinances regarding stun guns. Here’s a basic list, but again, be sure to check your local and state laws before purchasing a stun gun.

Stun guns cannot be purchased in these states:

HAWAII,

MASSACHUSETTS,

MICHIGAN,

NEW JERSEY,

NEW YORK,

RHODE ISLAND,

WISCONSIN

Or these cities:

ANNAPOLIS, BALTIMORE, BALTIMORE COUNTY-MD;

CHICAGO-IL;

DENISON-IA (CRAWFORD COUNTY);

DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA-DC;

PHILADELPHIA-PA

Can I Travel With Stun Guns

It’s best to check your stun gun with any luggage if you are traveling. You will not be allowed in the airport or on the plane with a stun gun.

There are other circumstances in which leaving your stun gun behind may be necessary. Any federal buildings will disallow stun guns. State and local courthouses and government offices and buildings will also not allow you to enter them with a stun gun. Sporting events, any place with a large gathering of people, and a lot of public places will also not allow a stun gun. Be sure to check all signage and remove your stun gun if you are going to one of these events or places.

Personal Protection Devices – Stun Guns

Idriys L. Muhammad asked:

Have you begun to notice an increase in the frequency and distribution of crimes being committed against individuals?

You will soon come to know of an extremely effective and affordable means of enhancing your safety.

A review of the sales literature will show there is an increase in the sales of stun guns. More and more people are seeking personal solutions to enhancing self and family protection without the use of handguns.

When it comes to personal self-defense, stun guns are becoming more and more popular. When compared to a conventional handgun, the stun gun could be considered a merciful alternative to employ during a situation that requires a self-defense solution.

Stun guns immediately, yet temporarily, disrupt the electrical signals transmitted from the brain to the muscles, thereby incapacitating an attacker while simultaneously not causing any lasting harm. It’s the combination of the high-voltage and the low-amp electrical charge that enables the gun to penetrate clothing, knock an assailant down and disorient him, without causing permanent damage to the body.

Hopefully, you will never be in an attack situation. If you are, however, your goal is to survive and get away, right?

Looking into the mind of an attacker we see a dangerous, yet scared, individual who uses both surprise and fear to assault others. These cowards, if you will, rarely expect their ‘victims” to respond in an effective self-defensive manner.

In fact, just having a useful, legal weapon like a stun gun, imbues one with a certain and noticeable confidence that, in many cases, signals a criminal that you are not any easy ‘mark’, so the criminal may decide to pass you by. On the other hand, if you are attacked, you can use your stun gun to stop the attack, render your assailant helpless, and make your getaway.

Stun guns have a simple mode of operation that’s based on the electrical design of the human body. The body is naturally susceptible to electrical shocks. The stun gun operates in a manner that, when activated, blocks communication between brain and muscle, thereby rendering the recipient of the stun helpless and incapable of continuing an attack.

Stun guns are battery operated, which adds to their convenience of use. Stun guns have been know to prevent an attack in that once a potential assailant sees that you have one and hears the crackling sound and sees the spark it emits he sometimes changes his mind regarding pursuing you as a victim.

If he doesn’t run, simply apply the stun gun to him, anywhere on the clothing or body. The stun gun charge will confuse, disorient and paralyze the assailant, leaving him weak and unable to control his own muscles.

Stun guns range in strengths from 100,000 – 750,000 volts. Furthermore, they are designed in different sizes and, they come in straight or curved versions.

So, if you are seeking an affordable and legal (by all means, check your state law regarding the possession and use of stun guns) method of enhancing your personal and family safety, consider stun guns: the safe and humane alternative to handguns.

TASER Guns and Stun Guns for Your Personal Protection

August 1st, 2009 admin No comments
Recent media reports have increased awareness on the risks of daily living. One of the risks that people face every single day is crime. Each day passes by with more and more people falling victim to various criminal acts. Theft and **** are commonplace, and one finds oneself thinking: “How can I protect myself?”

Self-defense is a primary instinct for human beings. It is natural to want to protect oneself. Throughout history, mankind has developed martial arts and weapons to be used in defending one’s self. Martial arts require discipline and training, and therefore time. Sadly, the modern world gives little opportunity for the common person to prepare himself or herself in this manner.

Mankind’s search for new, more convenient ways of protecting himself has produced many less-lethal but effective tools. Among these are pepper spray, stun guns, and rubber ammunition. Of particular interest are the TASER Gun and the Stun Gun.

The word TASER is an acronym that stands for “Thomas A. Swift’s Electric Rifle”, named after a fictional weapon in a series of books detailing the adventures of the equally-fictional Thomas A. Swift. The term is a registered trade name, belonging to TASER International. A TASER Product, in its real-life incarnation, is a less-lethal electricity-based weapon with a handgun configuration.

A TASER works by firing two dart-like electrodes into the target using compressed nitrogen. These electrodes are sharp enough to pierce normal clothing and skin, but *********** is shallow. They are also barbed to prevent easy removal once implanted. The electrodes are connected to the main unit by fine conductive wires, which then send an electric charge into the target. The powerful electric charge disables the target by overloading nerves, therefore disabling voluntary muscle control. TASER Guns are known to not cause permanent damage to the nervous system. Police models have longer range than civilian models, but both are equally effective.

TASER Guns are excellent self-defense weapons as they are very unlikely to cause permanent damage or death while being effective in disabling hostiles.

More commonly used than TASER Guns, Stun Guns are a popular choice for self-defense weapons. A stun gun is a hand-held device, designed for close-quarters use. The stun gun is also an electroshock weapon. While it cannot be used at range like the TASER, the stun gun has the distinct advantage of being able to be fired more than once.

Stun guns are commonly bar-shaped, like electric razors. They contain rechargeable batteries, around which the grip is molded. At one end are two exposed electrodes. When activated, electricity arcs between the two electrodes. The electrodes are then placed in contact with any part of the target’s body. The electric current causes intense involuntary muscle contractions and pain. This is intended to startle opponents (thus the name “stun” gun), and discourage further assault. In addition, stun guns produce a fearsome crackling sound when activated, and this can be used as a deterrent. Many women carry stun guns to defend themselves in case of a robbery or **** attempt.

TASERs and stun guns are portable, easily carried in a bag or jacket pocket. They are ready to be used when you find yourself needing to defense. Some may call these devices excessive and unnecessary, but as the old saying goes: “Better safe than sorry.”

somebody asked:

for how long?

I just bought a 400,000 k stun gun. I am probably going to win the idiot of the week award, but I was thinking about using it on myself before I carried it with me while walking and potentially used it on someone else, but before I stun myself I thought I should find out how much people say it hurts. Please share your knowledge, insights, tips, advice, and thoughts on stun guns and anything associated with stun guns.

thanks.
