Many of us love to travel and we do it for several reasons. We travel either because we want to take a vacation, or perhaps because we are going to participate on a business meeting and other planned events. Whatever our reasons for traveling, safety and security is one of the major requirements in the plan. That is why many of us think of bringing a stun gun on a plane or a ship as part of our precautionary measures. But can we really bring stun gun inside a plane or a ship?

It is not easy to travel without security or precaution. You do not know what is waiting out there in the world. Being a stranger in a strange land could mean that we may not be aware of the danger that awaits us. There may be dangerous strangers lurking around that will grab our baggage or rob us and all of our money. There are many more scenarios such us sexual assault or any form of crime that criminals are capable of doing and instead of a vacation, what is waiting for you might be a nightmare. To prevent that from happening, it is always best for you to be always ready.

But however necessary it may be to defend yourself through bringing a stun gun with you, there are certain rules which you need to follow and comply for that purpose. Do not get too excited now because you cannot just bring a stun gun anywhere you like. For example, there are laws which will prohibit you to bring a stun gun in certain buildings. As you may have been aware already, you cannot bring a stun gun inside a theatre or any place which have strict security measures. And most especially, you cannot bring a stun gun on a plane or a ship. It is strictly prohibited that you do so.

This may sound too strict but the law is doing it for the same reason you are bringing a stun gun for security. Since the alert of terrorist attacks and threats, the law has been extra careful with tolerating stuffs to bring as a part of your luggage inside a plane or ship. Somehow, terrorists can make bombs or weapons from just about anything like toothpaste, sprays, and other gadgets. Devices like the stun gun are not necessarily harmful devices. They were meant for self defense and they were not designed to kill. But still, a terrorist is very much capable of turning a device into a dangerous weapon.

And so as you can see here that there are certain laws that need to be followed when it comes to bringing a stunning device and it is important that you become aware of these rules. You want to have a secured travelling experience but you cannot bring a stun gun on a plane or a ship. What is worse than getting robbed is going to jail if you do not comply with the rules. If you really wish to carry the device with you, better express your concern with the high officials like the staff or the security group inside the ports that way they will also be aware of your concerns.

So the important thing to be done here is just to be careful and never walk alone in these areas. Do not expose all your personal belongings because if you will, you are only inviting the robbers and other criminals to attack you.

By: Joseph Pressley

About the Author:

Common sense and awareness are two of the most important tools you have in your personal safety and security toolkit. Here are some practical tips that you should be practicing consistently in order to prevent a crime before you become a victim. Let’s start with Shopping Mall parking lot security:

1) Be Aware of where you are parking. Is the parking lot dark? Are you parking in an area that has no visibility to the store’s entrance? Are there a lot of bushes where criminals can hide? Does the area seem secure, or does it make you uneasy? Pick a well lit area with good visibility. Don’t park next to commercial vans with no windows or be wary if one is parked next to you when you return. Thieves could be hiding out in wait.

2) You may be parking when it’s daylight, but will you be coming out when it is dark? If so, park in an area that is most likely to be populated, even if you have to walk a little farther. If your mall has a movie theater, the nearby parking area is often busy and well-patrolled.

3) Remember there is safety in crowds, so you could also wait for several other people to walk out in your general direction and head out with them.

4) Have your keys and stun gun or pepper spray in your hand before you walk out the door. Don’t walk out with your head down while rummaging around in your purse for your keys or self defense tool. Be alert and aware as you walk out.

5) Don’t put your purse on top of the car or on top of the trunk while you put your bags in your vehicle. It’s way too tempting to thieves.

6) Putting a small child in a car seat? If possible, get in with the child and lock the doors before you start wrestling with the car seat safety restraints.

7) When you reach your vehicle, take a quick look in your backseat to make sure it is clear. As soon as you are in your vehicle, lock your doors immediately.

Finally, don’t be timid about asking security to walk you out if you feel that the area you parked in is too dark or too deserted. Their job is to make customers secure so that you will come back again and again to shop.

By staying aware and prepared, you are well on your way to being in charge of your own personal security and safety.

By: Valerie Korzun

About the Author:

With all the different styles of martial arts, self defense seminars, pepper sprays, stun guns, etc… The idea of practical self defense becomes a bit overwhelming. Don’t dare ask what the best method is, what the best martial art style is, or which products are best, and expect a straightforward response. This topic always sparks a debate among “experts”.

My best advice is to keep it simple. I will refrain from the more traditional “keep it simple stupid”, as it’s not polite to call anyone stupid, especially when it’s untrue. After all, you are reading this and taking steps to ensure your personal safety and security… so that makes you a smarty-pants in my book!

Seriously though, I recommend having your bases covered, with simple strategies that don’t require much movement and thought.

For physical self defense techniques, attend several seminars by different instructors. You will get many different viewpoints, and many that are contradictory, but you will see the commonalities in all, and those will be what you want to stick with.

As far as self defense weapons go, get something that is easy for you to use and is proven effective. The more complex it is to use, the harder it will be to use in a real situation. In my opinion, having a self defense kit is the best idea. These typically come with a pepper spray, stun gun, and personal alarm. Depending on how you dress and where you’re going, you’ll have the right tool to carry. Please train yourself how to use it though, I can’t stress that enough.

Finally, make sure you have the mindset to protect yourself. I was at the store this weekend, and noticed a couple of guys kept walking past this attractive woman who was talking on her cellphone and oblivious to the situation. She had no idea she was being stalked. Granted, the store has security cameras, but what about the parking lot… they could have walked out, got in their car, and followed her. Please, stay aware.

Just keep in mind, that the simplest ideas can be the most effective. So keep it simple!

By: Evin Hunt

About the Author:
