Home Defense – Protect Your Turf

February 28th, 2010 admin No comments

The crime scene has increased to such an extent that criminals are not shy of invading the safety and privacy of homes to perpetrate crimes. A few years ago it was published that a home theft happens every 15 seconds. With this kind of a crime rate for home invasions, there is no doubt about the fact that each individual should ensure a certain amount of home defense on his own. The crime fighting departments obviously have their hands full!

It has also been discussed, with regards to home self defense that one needs to be careful about stepping over the line. The debate about where self defense stops and active assault takes over is dubious. In such matters therefore, it is only wise to take preventive actions rather than face a burglary and then later handle the consequences.

There are various aspects that you can take care of to ensure that your home is not among the higher probability list of burglars and thieves.

- Do a survey of your property and make an inventory of loose doors, cracked windows, panels that do not close and make a plan to mend them

- Keep your valuables in a safe and make sure that you do not keep any valuable pieces in areas that are visible from outside.

- Fencing your property also gives an impression that you are particular about the safety of your home and therefore resist burglars.

- If you are buying a new home, make sure that you change all the locks so that they are all new and that no one else has the key to those doors.

- You might also want to plan and plant some ’safe’ weapons in your house. Ensure that each room has a pen. Keep air fresheners, insect sprays, hair sprays handy in rooms like the laundry, bathroom and washroom. Ensuring that you always have chili powder or pepper in the kitchen or the dining table in accessible areas also helps.

- Rather than depending on natural weapons that may or may not be effective, make sure that you invest in a home pepper spray or a stun gun. These self defense weapons are safe and detain the quarry only temporarily; enough time for you to dial a 911 or make a dash for it to protect your family and yourself.

- Prepare for any likely assault with your family. Make sure that you have a plan and that you have discussed this with your family a few times. Doing a mock practice is also not a bad idea. It will make a good game for you and your kids on a Sunday evening.

- Always make sure that you have a fool proof plan to alert the authorities, lest such an incident actually happen. Speak to your children about it and make sure that they are aware of the likelihood of such a situation.

You can probably never plan self defense completely because when the incident actually happens the shock and unexpectedness of the situation can take you by surprise. Thinking of the situation and being alert all the time can help you overcome the element of surprise. Investing time in understanding how self defense products like a pepper spray, a stun gun or a taser work can help you in ensuring the safety of your home, belongings and family.

C2 Taser – Why Women And Men Love This Taser

February 23rd, 2010 admin No comments

When you think of a taser, most likely you will associate it with the police, but ordinary people can carry them also. Tasers are not considered a firearm, so are considered legal for civilian use. There are some states, cities, and countries that do ban them, so make sure they are legal where you live before making your purchase.

So what exactly does a taser do you might wonder. A taser is a hand-held weapon that delivers a jolt of electricity up to 50,000 volts up to 15 feet away. This allows you to keep a safe distance away from your attacker. The taser stuns the attacker which causes an uncontrollable contraction in the muscle tissue. The attacker becomes immobilized and falls to the ground.

When searching for a taser, do your research because there is many to choose from. Many women and even men prefer the C2 Taser. It offers an effective rate of almost 100%, so you can carry this in confidence that in case of an attack, you are prepared with a reliable defense. The C2 Taser shoots out two darts that are connected to 15 feet of wire, which carry 50,000 volts of electricity that can take down just about anyone no matter what size they are.

The C2 Taser can fend off an attacker from 15 feet of distance. If the attacker is in a close range, the C2 Taser will act as a contact stun. Some weapons require you to use on certain parts of the body, but the C2 Taser allows you to use on any part of the body, so when in a stressful situation you do not have to concentrate on an certain body part, you can more effectively fend for yourself by the C2 Taser working on any part of the attacker’s body. With an amazing rate of effectiveness, tasers are one of the most non-lethal self-defense weapons that you can own, which will stop the attacker as soon as the taser is used, even if the attacker has been using drugs or alcohol.

To promote responsible ownership and prevent misuse, the TASER C2 will
function only after the owner completes a background check. TASER C2 cartridges come with Anti-Felon ID tag and have a unique serial number and are equipped with Anti-Felon Identification tags to allow law enforcement to track potential misuse.
AFID tags are dispersed upon discharge.

Before purchasing a taser, educate yourself. If you are in the situation of an attack, will you actually use it? Some people might be scared to use it because they do not have the confidence of using it correctly. Using a taser can be a matter of you getting injured or defending yourself until the police arrive. Read up on the product and be aware of how to handle the weapon and how to work it. Tasers are portable and convenient and most importantly a life-saver. Make this investment by purchasing one and know that whenever in trouble, it is available to protect you.

Knowing Where to Look For Self Defense Products Makes it Easier to Be Protected

January 12th, 2010 admin No comments

Have you even been walking by yourself at night and seen a group of people standing on the sidewalk? Did you get that bad feeling in the pit of your stomach that tells you this could be dangerous? Well if you’re like most of us this has happened to you before and in fact it is very normal. Our subconscious is always on alert and ready to warn us when it thinks danger is near. Getting this feeling can be unsettling and downright scary even if it ends up being nothing.

If it ends of being nothing you probably thought to yourself “what would I have done if they would of attacked me?”. To put it bluntly you would have been in trouble if you had no way to defend yourself. Too many people around the United States spend a lot of time walking around without a way to defend themselves if they end up in a bad situation. There is no need for this when there are so many options for making sure you are protected.

The most popular way to keep you protected is by purchasing a self defense weapon such as a stun gun or some pepper spray. Unfortunately most people never do this and there are a couple reasons for this. One of the biggest reasons for not owning a self defense weapon is because they just don’t know where to get them from. Well today I want to shed some light on where to look for some great self defense weapons.

The answer to finding great self defense products is as easy as heading over to Google. But before you do that you should figure out if you want to use a stun gun or pepper spray. To make that decision you need to know if they’re legal where you live. There are a couple states that restrict pepper spray and stun guns. To see if they are legal where you live either call your local police department or go to Google and search for “stun guns laws” or “pepper spray laws” there is a wealth of sites that will provide you with the information needed.

Once you figure out if you want to use pepper spray or a stun gun it is time to do some searching. So pull up Google and type in something along the lines of “stun guns for sale” or “where to buy pepper spray”. You’re going to find a very large amount of sites that sell these products. Some of them are good and some of them are not. Once you find a site that has what you’re looking for it would be wise to do a little research about the company. You can do this by doing another search for the company name followed by the word reviews. You might find some reviews about the company out there. Another option would be going to bbb.com and search for the company there. If everything checks out than it’s time to make the purchase.

When making the purchase you want to make sure the checkout process is secure to ensure your information is protected. This is actually very easy to do and is something you can do when buying anything else online. The easiest way to know if the page is secure is by looking at the address bar on your browsers when on the page asking for your name and credit card information. When you’re not in the checkout process the address would normally look like this: http://www.companyname.com but when you are in the checkout process it should look like this: https://www.companyname.com. The difference is the ‘S’ in the ‘https://’ The S means you are connected with a secure connection.

Now that you have purchased your first self defense product you can walk around with a little more confidence knowing that you are protected. Just keep in mind they won’t save you in all situations but you have MUCH more protection behind you than you would if you didn’t have a self defense product.

Self Defense Weapon Choices

January 8th, 2010 admin No comments

If you don’t have a law enforcement background, there’s a chance that you’ve never even seen a stun gun, TASER device, pepper spray canister, or any of the other self defense products. These products are becoming more and more popular for self defense, but still far too few people think to arm themselves to fight back when being attacked. How do you choose between all of these popular devices for self defense? All of these devices are designed to be easy to use and effective, but if you don’t know the differences between them, you might have a hard time choosing. Here are the more popular types of self defense weapons.

Pepper Spray – This is one of the simplest ways to protect yourself. If you can use a spray can, you can use pepper spray. The spray contains a chemical derivative of hot peppers known as Oleoresin Capsicum (OC). When sprayed at your attacker, OC acts as an inflammatory agent, causing burning, watery eyes, difficulty breathing, and other symptoms to take down your attacker quickly. The chemicals in pepper spray are hotter than even the hottest jalapeno peppers – in fact, about eight hundred times hotter. You can hit an attacker with a good stream of pepper spray from up to fifteen or twenty feet away, and they will be incapacitated for at least 20 or 30 minutes, although there are no long-term health effects after being sprayed.

Stun Guns – Stun guns are devices that use an electrical current to disable your attacker. When you hit the ‘on’ button, the device emits a loud crackling noise that will make your attacker think twice without you even having to use the stun gun against them. Though they are very effective at making your attacker unable to control his muscles to fight you, the stun gun must come into physical contact with his body in order to affect him. Even thick clothing will lessen the effect of a stun gun. Still, these are very powerful devices that will stop an assailant in his tracks.

TASER Devices – TASER devices fire a wire with a barb that will attach to the attacker, delivering a pulse of energy. This energy disrupts the assailant’s nervous system, and, similarly to a stun gun, makes him unable to continue attacking you. Most TASER models have a range of about fifteen feet. They are easy to aim and fire, and will penetrate several inches of clothing. In addition, most TASER devices can be used like a stun gun if your attacker is too close for you to aim and fire the device. The drawback is that the TASER barbs can only be fired once with each replaceable cartridge. Also, TASER devices tend to be among the more expensive of your self defense options, though they are also among the most effective.

Keychain self defense – Many forms of personal defense come in a handy keychain form. You can purchase small canisters of pepper spray on a keychain, in addition to a kubuton (self defense stick), which allows you to fight back using your own strength. A personal alarm is a keychain device which emits an extremely loud noise to alert bystanders to your situation. A kubuton is a good choice if you like the idea of fighting back physically, although it does require some skill and strength to use effectively. A personal alarm has many applications and will draw a lot of attention, which will make many attackers turn and run. Keychain-sized pepper spray canisters are among the most popular types of self defense product.

Knives and firearms – Although these can be very effective, they require a lot of skill to use correctly in a self defense situation. Plus, there are many laws governing the carrying and use these devices. Many people don’t like the idea of carrying a knife or gun, or indeed anything that may cause lethal harm. If you are considering your options for personal protection, a nonlethal device designed to protect you in a self defense situation is probably a more effective option.

Taser and Stun Guns – How to Tell the Difference

December 31st, 2009 admin No comments

We are all worried about safety. Often our minds can drift to thoughts of ways to protect ourselves and our loved ones from those who may wish to cause us harm. We all hope that this moment never comes, but if it does, we want to be prepared. One of the most efficient ways to accomplish this is through the purchase of a taser or stun gun. Yet it can be confusing to figure out the difference between the two. Below you will find out exactly what taser guns and stun guns are and how they stand in a dangerous situation.

The definition of a taser gun?

Tazers are non-violent weapons that utilize electrical currents to stop the control of muscles. The phrase that describes this occurrence is neuromuscular incapacitation. The taser utilizes “Electro-Muscular Disruption (EMD) technology to cause this reaction to occur in an attacker. Once an attacker is hit by a taser gun, their muscles immediately become over-stimulated, causing involuntary muscular contraction. Thus the attacker loses the use of their muscles, and will immediately fall to the ground unable to do anything. This practical procedure for self defense shows why security and law enforcement use the tazer as one of their preferred methods of self defense. The majority of tasers have long and short range capabilities and come in a many shapes and sizes. Those used mainly by law enforcement are the X26 and M26 models, which are also available for civilian use.

What is a stungun?

Stun guns, on the other hand are self defense weapons that utilize high voltage to stop an attacker. The non-violent gun targets the nervous system. Once touched by the prongs of a stun gun, it dumps its raw power into the muscles at a high pulse frequency. The rapid work cycle rapidly decreases blood sugar by changing it to lactic acid all in just seconds. The result of this is the massive of energy and inability to function. Usually, with stun guns, the higher the voltage the more effective it is. This is why it is important to spend your money on a higher voltage device over one that has lower voltage. What is nice about this weapon is that it is perfect for short rang confrontation. A victim may stun an attacker without ever worrying about the circuit coming back on him or her-even if the attacker is holding unto them.

So is the stun gun or the taser gun a more effective self defense weapon. The answer to this, is the taser gun is the more effective weapon because it utilizes more wattage than the stun gun and contains more features. However, the taser much more expensive than any stun gun that you will buy an both self defense weapons are very effective so the answer would have to be that it depends on what you will use it for and what your budget is like. If you are on a tight budget, you can purchase a stun gun for under $40 in some online stores, and it will be a very effective self defense weapon against most attackers. However, if you are law enforcement or security or you are looking for the most cutting edge way to protect yourself, you may want to invest in one of the taser gun models. Either way, you can’t go wrong.

Will a Stun Gun Protect Me?

December 18th, 2009 admin No comments
Christopher Winkler asked:

Approximately thirteen million people (approximately 5% of the U.S. population) are victims of crime every year. Approximately one and a half million are victims of violent crime (source: Federal Bureau of Investigation). If you are a victim of a crime, it can make you react in ways that you can’t understand. During the crime, you normally feel a sense of helplessness, fear, and then anger. Afterwards, you may have a hard time relating to life experiences that use to pose no problems. A conflict usually develops between your idea of the world before the crime and your idea of the world after the disaster.

So how can you protect yourself in the 21st Century? Well, handguns are lethal weapons that do stop criminals, though they have severe ramifications. Not only could you be charged with a serious crime, most states prevent carrying a weapon without a permit of some kind, if one is available at all. Most of the time, you are breaking many laws by carrying a loaded weapon with you.

There are many types of non-lethal self defense weapons; defensive sprays, tasers, knives, alarms, batons, and a wide variety of stun guns in many shapes, sizes, and voltages. This article will focus on stun guns.

What is a stun gun?

A stun gun is a hand-held, battery-powered or electrically charged device that is designed to deliver a strong electric shock to stop an attacker. There not guns in the traditional sense because they don’t shoot bullets; rather, they shoot electricity into an attacker. A stun gun has two prongs at the end of the device. Touching an attacker with the prongs while you pull the trigger will cause a strong electrical current to go from the prongs through the attacker’s clothes into his body.

Pressing the prongs on the stun gun against a person will quickly immobilize an attacker by causing an intense pain and complete loss of muscle control. However, because they operate at low amperage, no serious or permanent injury is inflicted on the attacker; they will just be immobilized for 5-60 minutes depending on how long they were stunned. Stun guns are used by police departments, security agencies, and individuals desiring strong non-lethal protection against attack. They have been proven to be an excellent defensive device. They operate on one to three 9-volt batteries and range from 50,000 volts to 1,000,000 volts.

How does a stun gun work?

The stun gun uses high voltage and low amperage to affect the muscular and neural systems of the human body. They does not rely on high amperage or pain for results, rather most stun guns operate on milliamps. It feels like getting hit in the funny bone x 10,000. The stun gun dumps its energy into the muscles at a high pulse frequency. This makes the muscles contract rapidly, which results in energy loss, which depletes your muscles of needed blood sugars. The attacker cannot produce energy for his muscles, and exhausted, his body is unable to function properly for up to sixty minutes. The resulting energy loss makes it difficult to move and function. This causes disorientation and loss of balance, leaving the attacker in a passive and confused condition. Still there is no significant effect on the heart and other organs.

When the attacker’s neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance. Just a 1/4 second contact will repel and startle the attacker, giving intense pain and muscle contraction. One to two seconds will cause intense pain, muscle spasms and a dazed mental state; this may drop the attacker to the ground. Over three seconds will cause intense pain, loss of balance and muscle control mental confusion, and disorientation. Generally any charge over three seconds will cause the aggressor to fall to the ground. The aggressor will be unable to recover for several minutes and effects may last for up to fifteen minutes. This gives you plenty of time to run for help.

Are stun guns safe?

Stun guns have been proven to be safe and effective non-lethal self defense products. They do not cause any permanent damage to an attacker. While I found an article about a death to an infant by a stun gun, I could not find any evidence that the electrical charge of the stun gun has adverse psychological or neurological effects on adults. The effects on the heart or other major organs are very insignificant.

Stun guns will not permanently injure or kill any adult because of the voltage; its the amps that will hurt you. One amp will kill a person. Most stun guns deliver only 3 milliamps or less. That is far below the amperage that could do any long lasting damage to an individual.

Will I be stunned if the attacker also touches me?

If an attacker touches you while you are stunning him, the electricity will not pass to your body. The electrical current is absorbed into the attacker’s muscles and will not pass out to you, regardless of the conditions. Even if the assailant is holding you, there is no way the current will pass to you.

Are stun guns legal?

Stun guns are restricted in some states, cities, counties, and countries;

States where stun guns are restricted: Hawaii, Indiana, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin.

Cities/Counties where stun guns are restricted: Annapolis and Baltimore, MD, Baltimore County, MD, Chicago, IL, Dennison/Crawford County, IA (According to Sheriff Tom Hogan), District of Columbia, Philadelphia, PA.

Countries where stun guns are restricted:

Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.

Before buying a stunning device, please make sure they are legal where you live. You may check stun gun laws and restrictions for some general guideline. If in doubt, contact your local police department.

Wouldn’t it be more effective to just carry a handgun?

Sometimes yes, most of the time, no. There are only a handful of states that allow you to carry a concealed weapon. Others require applying for a concealed carry permit from local authorities that usually require training as well. Some states say they issue concealed carry permits but only in rare instances. Some do not issue concealed carry permits at all. If you are caught carrying a firearm without a permit, the legal consequences can be severe including fines, incarceration and a ban on owning firearms, possibly for life, in some states.

If a firearm is the best choice to scare off an assailant, why do I need anything other than a permit and my handgun?

Just showing a firearm can sometimes stop off an attack. However, that can be a problem as well. My friend was just arrested for pointing a weapon at someone who he though was going to steal his car. In any state, people who carry weapons are well aware of the consequences of showing those weapons. Using a firearm for self-defense on an unarmed assailant can bring very severe legal consequences. One of the most important elements of concealed carry training is understanding that when a victim pulls the firearm, they must be prepared to take the ultimate step. The key is to know when and under what circumstances a firearm should be pulled from concealment. Pulling a firearm on an unarmed assailant may not necessarily cause the assailant to break off the attack. This is particularly so if the assailant perceives they can physically over-power you. Then you are in worse trouble than before you started. You must be prepared to use that weapon if you point it.

At that point the victim may face a physical confrontation and fight over the firearm itself. This is not a good situation. The vast majority of assaults don’t warrant the use of a firearm because the assailant is generally unarmed. This is where non-lethal protection is extremely critical. All Police officers carry pepper spray and/or a stun device knowing that in a significant number of situations they encounter, the use of a firearm is not necessary. With a firearm, it’s generally all or nothing. A non-lethal alternative offers an interim step that can save you an enormous amount of legal problems and money.

Remember, while using a stun gun, you cannot suffer a charge back to your own body, even if the assailant is holding you. Just make sure the stun gun you select has an anti-theft wrist strap, which will incapacitate the stun gun, if an attacker tries to take it away from you.

That’s our report on Will A Stun Gun Protect Me? It’s one of the best non-lethal defense products on the market, and used with pepper spray, gives you a 1-2 punch that should take down the most aggressive of attackers.

Stun Gun and Pepper Spray Safety

December 17th, 2009 admin No comments
Richard Armen asked:

When purchasing self defense items like stun guns and pepper spray, it is important to learn how to carry and use them safely. Although the media often focuses on the dangers of guns and knives, lesser-known self defense weapons like pepper spray and stun guns can also pose a danger if you are not educated on their use. If you have any questions about their use, ask your local police department; if they do not offer training, they will know where such training is offered.

Pepper spray comes in a can, like spray paint. Unlike spray paint, it has a safety mechanism that must be turned so that the contents can be sprayed. Always carry your spray with the safety mechanism engaged. However, examine it carefully so that you know how to turn off the safety quickly while it’s in your purse or pocket, in case you ever need to use it. Otherwise you’ll have to pull it out, look at it, and turn off the safety, all while your attacker is coming closer. Once the safety is off, it can be sprayed just like spray paint into your attacker’s face.

Keep pepper spray at room temperature, and never leave it in your car during the summer. Otherwise, the high temperatures can cause the canister to leak. If you do come in contact with pepper spray, flush the area with cool water, and take off any clothing that has been sprayed. Do not use warm water or touch your face.

Stun guns must be pressed directly to the skin of your attacker in order to be effective. Keep in mind that it is possible to use the gun multiple times on one charge, so be very careful when picking up the gun after using it on an attacker, so that you do not stun yourself. However, when used correctly it is extremely difficult to shock yourself; even if the attacker is touching you, using the stun device will not cause the current to pass through to your body. Although a permit is usually not necessary for carrying a stun device, you should still consider training if you plan to carry one. Training can ensure that you know how to use it if the time comes.

If you opt for a stun gun, look for models with disposable pins. If the attacker tries to grab your stun gun away from you, the disposable pin will pull out, and the stun device cannot be used against you.

After using pepper spray or a stun gun, do not wait to watch your attacker’s reaction to it. Instead, flee the area quickly, while the assailant is temporarily incapacitated. Pepper spray’s effects last at least 45 seconds, while stun guns may last from 5 to 10 minutes for full recovery.

Always remember that stun guns and pepper spray can cause pain, even though they are very unlikely to cause permanent damage. For this reason, keep them out of the reach of children, and teach your children that they are not toys. To a child, your pepper spray and stun gun may look like spray paint and a toy gun. Never use these items if there is no emergency, as misuse may be a crime. Although using stun guns and pepper spray for self defense is legal, using them when there is no threat is not.

Should/Can teens carry certain weapons for self defense?

Should you Buy a C2 Taser?

August 3rd, 2009 admin No comments
When you are shopping for a self defense weapon, you will likely be considering a Taser stun gun as one of your options. The Taser brand of stun gun is one of the most well-known brands of personal protection products. Recently Taser introduced a new product, the Taser C2. What do you need to know about this self defense weapon before buying one? How can you know if it is the right product for your needs?

There are many benefits to owning the Taser C2. This compact self defense weapon is about the size of a television remote. It can easily slip into a purse or backpack, making it a great choice for women and students. It also has a lower price tag than many Taser products, which makes it more attainable for people in the general public. Currently Taser C2 stunners cost around $300. They also come in four colors, pink, blue, silver, and black.

The Taser C2 works in two ways. If you are in direct contact with an attacker, it can be placed in direct contact to deliver the charge. These guns can stun through two inches of clothing. However, unlike traditional stun guns, this Taser product can also propel the charge up to 15 feet. This allows you to ward off an attack before it begins.

The Taser, like all stun guns, works by delivering an electrical charge to the attacker’s body. Since our nervous systems rely on electrical impulses from the brain to the muscles and nerves, adding electricity to the body can disrupt the normal function of the nervous system. As a result, muscles cannot function properly. The attacker becomes weak or paralyzed temporarily, allowing you to escape. The amount of electrical shock delivered by these products is not enough to kill or injure the attacker, but just enough to disable him long enough for the person being attacked to get to safety. This makes a Taser a non-lethal form of personal protection, which is part of the reason that these products are so popular.

When propelled, these self defense weapons can only be used once. However, if you are using them in close proximity to your attacker, you can use them repeatedly. Once you are away from the attacker, you can reload the gun for another use.

There has been some controversy about this latest Taser product. The controversy is no different than the controversy that has surrounded stun guns since their inception. Many opponents to these products feel that they are not safe for the general public. They believe that people can, and will, use Taser products as torture weapons. While most opponents feel that stun gun products are fine for law enforcement officials, they also feel that the general public should not be allowed to use them.

While these are legitimate concerns that should not be overlooked, the company that created these products has done many things to help control the misuse of their Taser C2 product. In order for someone to use a Taser C2, they must have an activation code. This activation code is only delivered after the individual has passed a thorough background check administered by SureCheck. This background check is designed to pinpoint individuals who are likely to misuse their self defense weapons.

Will people misuse Taser guns? They probably will. However, people misuse handguns all around the world, yet we still sell them to the general public. Most experts feel that Tasers provide the general public with the ability to defend themselves in a non lethal fashion. As with most self defense weapons, the potential for misuse is there, but the benefit of personal protection far outweighs the potential misuses of these products.

Pick up your new Taser C2 in your favorite color choice. Maybe you feel more comfortable using a stun gun. Buy your Stun Master 775,000 Volt Stun Gun with a Disable Strap.

Stun Guns

July 21st, 2009 admin No comments
Stun guns are electrical self-defense weapons that use high voltage to temporarily disable an attacker. By touching a person with the prongs of a stun gun, you can quickly immobilize an attacker long enough for you to be able to get away safely. And, since stun guns have very low amperage, no serious or permanent injury will be inflicted.

Stun guns are an excellent self defense solution for anyone who is looking for a non-lethal method of self defense. Stun guns can be quite affordable to purchase and using a stun gun is relatively easy to do. However, it is very important to understand how to properly use a stun gun to help ensure your own safety and the effectiveness of immobilizing an attacker. If a stun gun is used incorrectly, you may only succeed in aggravating rather than immobilizing an attacker.

Start off by familiarizing yourself with all of the different parts of the particular stun gun you have purchased. Since all stun guns are different, it is important to obtain a basic understanding of all the basic parts on your stun gun model. First, you should locate where the test probes and the contact probes are on your stun gun and always remember: do not touch them! This is the most hazardous part of the stun gun and it should never be played with or touched. Next, you should locate the on/off safety switch on your stun gun. Click the switch back and forth from the off position to the on position a few times to get the feel of how the switch works. You want to be able to do this quickly in case you need to use it in an attack situation. You should also inspect your stun gun and locate where the trigger and battery cover are. The battery and battery cover are usually located on the bottom of most stun gun models. Take the battery out and replace it a couple times to make sure it is inserted properly and is also fully charged. Take your stun gun in your hand, making sure that both the test probes and the contact probes are facing away from you. Conduct a test by moving the on/off switch of the stun gun into the on position and press the trigger to watch the sparks fly.

Knowing how to properly activate stun guns is only one important element in your self defense success. The remainder of your success is totally dependent upon how well you are able to use your stun gun. The location on the attacker’s body where you apply the stun gun and the length of time you are able to apply it are also important factors. The results are typically best if you try to aim for a soft, uncovered area on the attacker’s body. You should hold down the trigger for a minimum of three to five seconds to effectively immobilize the attacker. You just need the attacker to be incapacitated long enough for you to be able to get away quickly and safely.

Remember, it is important to know how to safely and effectively use your stun gun just in case the time comes when you need to use it!
